What does the name "Leading Tones" mean?

    The name "Leading Tones" is derived from a music theory term referring to the seventh scale degree of a major scale. It is noteworthy in that it resolves up and leads forward, like our group, ever leading into the future with new arrangements and new sounds to please our listeners. We're a seventh above the rest!

When were The Leading Tones formed?

    The Leading Tones were formed in the spring of 2005 when a group of guys wanted to put together a group to sing for the annual A Cappella Invitational. They were not vocalists, and The Leading Tones continue to be dominated by non-vocalists.

How many members are in the group?

    Currently, there are thirteen members in The Leading Tones. Check out the Members section for individual's information.

Do The Leading Tones have a director?

    The Leading Tones are self-directed and independent. We have no one leader. Each man is an important part of the group.

Where do you get your arrangements?

    All of the arrangements that The Leading Tones perform are original from the minds of current or past members.

What types of songs do you perform?

    The Leading Tones pride themselves on the variety of genres covered by their arrangements. We sing a cappella standards, oldies, rock, ballads, comedy, and even a rap song or two. In short, we sing contemporary songs that our listeners want to hear!
