The Leading Tones

LEADING TONES NEWS (ARCHIVE)

08 January 2008
Back To School (Again)

The Leading Tones had a VERY busy fall quarter. They had a few performances including A Cappellooza 2007 hosted by The Dicks & Janes in Ann Arbor, MI. It was an amazing show and all who attended had a great time. The videos are up on our video site (see the MEDIA section).

We also recorded our first studio CD at the end of fall quarter with DandR Studios out of The Plains. The CD's post production should be finished anytime and we're looking at a release party within the next few weeks. As part of the deal we will also be heard on DandR's radio station. Stay posted!

In more recent news, The Leading Tones will be making their first appearance at an International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella! That show will be on January 19th in Oxford, OH at Miami University. Show starts at 8pm. Find some Misfitz for tickets!

Even though we just got back to school and haven't rehearsed in over a month, we're sure to bring a great set and rock out like we always do!

20 May 2007

This month has been crazy! A lot of firsts for the Leading Tones... First music videos were shot, first TV appearance, first performance of new arrangements, first front page article in the paper, first time performing in the Columbus area (which we will definitely be going back to!). We're pretty much done for the year!

In the summer, we'll be arranging our rep for next year... it will be great!

This past year has been the best our group possibly could have had. We basically started out with nothing, a group lacking cohesiveness and consistency, and now we've become a recognizable, desirable, and profitable group! I'm incredibly excited for what next year will bring, and you should be too!

27 April 2007 - Busy month behind, Busy month ahead
The A Cappella Invitational went really well for all the groups involved! Unfortunately no other groups besides the ones at Ohio University could come this year, but it was still a great show! We sold some CD's and had probably the most fun we've had all year on stage.

As busy as April has been for us, May is going to be even busier! We have an event planned for every week! We'll have our first music videos produced, our first TV appearance, and our first show in Columbus! Aren't you excited? We are too!

3 April 2007 - CD RELEASE COMING SOON
By popular demand, we've decided to release another live CD of our shows at The Front Room back in February. This CD contains our newest arrangements to date and will definitely be a great addition for any Leading Tones fan! We will be selling them before, during, and after the A Cappella Invitational. You can pick up our older CD Leading Tones LIVE and our new one for $5 each, or $8 for both! Don't miss out on this opportunity to own a piece of Leading Tones history!

29 March 2007 -
Getting Ready for April

As you may have noticed, April is a pretty big month for The Leading Tones. We have our biggest show of the year, the Ohio University A Cappella Invitational, just around the corner, and we're traveling on the weekends after! We're rehearsing lots so that we can learn some NEW SONGS to perform!

We're headed up to Wooster College to perform with The Cowbelles and other groups at their A Cappella Bonanza. We'll be up there on April 21st for some social time with the other groups, so if you've ever wanted to party with The Leading Tones here's your chance! We'll be singing some of our older stuff that we won't be performing on Sunday's show.

2 March 2007 - APhiO Benefit Concert

The show on Tuesday went as well as it could have. Great crowd, energetic singing, very enthusiastic response (as indicated by the CD sales!) We are officially going on a mini-tour in April to Wooster College and possibly over to Massachusetts. Keep checking for updates!

We are singing the National Anthem on Saturday morning to kick off the 5K Run/Walk that will raise money for Alpha Phi Omega's Invisible Children fundraiser. We're then going to participate in the event, listen for some impromptu performances from your favorite OU a cappella group!

25 February 2007 - CD RELEASE!!
Yes, you read correctly. The Leading Tones have released their first CD. Leading Tones LIVE! features live recordings of all your favorites that we've performed over the years. Use the Contact Us section of this website if you want to purchase one... they're only $5!

The show on Friday night with University of Michigan's Dicks and Janes was a complete success! Great turnout, lots of money raised for the Invisible Children fundraiser, and also lots of money raised through CD sales! If you missed us on Friday, we have another performance on Tuesday night featuring a couple of other songs we didn't perform on Friday.

8 February 2007
Last night was an important event in Leading Tones history. It was the first rehearsal since the inception that every member could attend! That was occasion enough for a group pic... now posted in the members section. Everything is coming together for the February show, so you better show up and be ready for some excellent a cappella!

31 January 2007
The National Anthem singing on Saturday night went very well! I'd like to think we had something to do with the hockey team's win...
New arrangements are all mostly in... I think we finally have a program for the February show with the DJs!

25 January 2007
We've set up a show with the Dicks and Janes from University of Michigan. Come out and support on February 23, 10:00 PM, Baker Front Room. Hopefully that venue will work out! Also... we're looking for homestays, preferably people who can host all of them...

24 January 2007

19 January 2007
The Leading Tones were just extended an offer to perform at the A Cappella Bonanza, hosted by Wooster University's female a cappella group, the Cowbelles! That event will go down April 21, so mark your calendars!

There's also talk about attending an A Cappella Fest in Massachusetts... stay posted!

16 January 2007
NEW ARRANGEMENTS! Brian has started working on an arrangement Stacy's Mom, from Fountains of Wayne. Also, new member Colin Blankenship is working on the YouTube classic Dick in A Box...

11 January 2007
NEW WEBSITE LAUNCH! Brian decided to put a new spin on the website... because he hated the old design, even though he made it.

The Leading Tones would like to welcome newest members Colin Blankenship -Tenor I- and Joe Frandoni -Baritone. We're all very excited to have a full ensemble for the first time in awhile! Be prepared for twelve-part harmonies...

10 January 2007
We are happy to be back at Ohio University after a long winter break! Much was accomplished over break on arrangements, both new and revamping old arrangements.

We're planning to sing the National Anthem at an upcoming hockey game, so don't miss it!

We're also planning a show in the Front Room in the new Baker Center later on in the quarter.

Plans are also in the mix for cutting a studio CD late winter quarter or early spring quarter... depending how long it takes us to get everything learned and polished up.
